Where to Fish for the Monsters
If you are interested in fishing for these monster muskies, pike or catfish here is the blog about location. Now I don’t only mean states, or countries. I mean actually in the water!!
For Muskies, the best places to fish for them is in the MidWestern states. Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin,Iowa,Ohio, Pennsylvania and Canada. Any of the natural lakes will have muskies but the man made ones will carry a hybrid called the tiger musky. So if you are looking to the catch the “big monster” fishes here is how to prepare.
Download a topographic map of the area you want to fish. Scout out your locations. This applies to all 3 of the monster fishys.
For muskies the best time of year to fish is June and July or September and October. The best time to fish is right before dawn and an hour and a half after dawn. Or an hour before sunset and after. They are most prominent when the water temp is around 70 F. In natural lakes look for an 8 to 20 foot contours near drop-offs and weedy areas. In man made lakes look for weedy areas, drop-offs and brushy structures. Remember these pups are hunters so the right time and place and they will bit at anything! For Pike fishing you can go to any of the midwest states I listed above, Canada and Great Britian. Again map and scout. Look for weedy areas, beaver houses, sunken trees, rocky areas or where a channel feds into a lake or river. Same months and time of day apply for Pike also.
Here we go with Catfishing. Catfish can be found just about anywhere. US, Canada, Asia, Europe and even Poland! Mostly natural lake and rivers. Look for them in tree areas, drop offs, holes or on the edge of shallow areas also where turns and bends. In spring fish shallow. Catfish often move to deep areas as the day heats up and back to shallow when night comes.
